Staff and patients can depend on the four sections of St. Luke’s Pharmaceutical Department—the dispensary; the pharmaceutical management room, laboratory and TPN room; the ward pharmacy; and the pharmaceutical information room—to ensure the availability and safe, effective use of pharmaceuticals. In addition to overseeing the purchase and provision of pharmaceuticals, the department also manages medications, gathers and disseminates information, compounds necessary drugs, fills inpatient and outpatient prescriptions, prepares TPN and supports clinical testing in the wards. Since 2002, the department has assigned specialized pharmacists in the I.V. Center and supported outpatient chemotherapy.
