At St. Luke’s, we believe that prevention is just as important as the treatment of disease or injury, and that we can and should exercise leadership in the ongoing improvement of public health services. In 1954, St. Luke’s became the first hospital in Japan to provide preventive examinations for company workers. Since then, our services have continued to expand, from three-day and one-week in-hospital examinations to one-day ambulatory check-ups, brain scans, prenatal education and post-partum care for mothers and infants, and Well Baby Clinics.
In January 2004, we merged the one-day preventive examination section into the Center for Preventive Medicine in the S.L. Tower. St. Luke’s intends to keep pace with emerging opportunities to provide the highest level of preventive care services.
