Follow these procedures to ensure privacy and safety during admission, examination and treatment, and discharge from the hospital.

You will be given an appointment to apply for admission.
Go to the Room Assignment Counter , on the first floor, on the day of your appointment to complete the application procedures. We will notify you of any necessary deposit amount.

The Day of Admission

Hospitalization procedure

Proceed to the Admission Counter on the first floor at the designated time. (You will receive an appointment time before admission.)

After the paperwork has been completed, we will show you to the room on the first floor between 9:00 A.M. and 10:00 A.M

Documents required on the day of admission

  • Application for admission
  • Agreement regarding hospital room charges (as needed)
  • Clinic ID card
  • Japanese National Health Insurance card, or health insurance papers
  • Initial deposit

Please submit the following to the ward nurse

  • Name band
  • Nursing health history files

What you should bring

Pajamas Undershirts and underpants
Clock Facial tissue
Slippers (with rubber sole) Robe*
Towels: Private-type A, B, and C Rooms, and Private-luxury A and B Rooms are provided with fresh towels daily
  Socks
  Toiletries: Toothbrush and tooth paste, denture care items, comb, soap, shaving kit, shampoo and conditioner, personal-care items
  Tea/coffee cup (Tea will be served in hospital cups at meal time.)
 
  * We kindly request that patients do not to walk in public areas wearing only pajamas; please bring a dressing gown or a robe.
  • For patients admitted to the Pediatrics Department, please review the more detailed information provided in the “Admission to Pediatrics Department” booklet, which is included with materials you will receive upon admission.
  • Please bring paper diapers, if necessary. The ward nurse will let you know if any particular type is required.
  • Daily supplies can only be purchased at the gift shop on B1.

Valuables

Please do not bring excess cash, jewelry, or valuables.
If you have any of these items with you, please ask the admission staff to store them in a safety deposit box at the time of admission (the Admission Counter is on the first floor).
The hospital is not responsible for any lost goods or valuables.

During your Hospital Stay

Please review the more detailed information in the “Guide to Your Hospital Stay”, which is included with materials you will receive upon admission.

Medical examinations and nursing care

Please feel free to ask your physician or nurse in charge any questions related to your medical examinations or your nursing care. Upon admission, the physician in charge or the ward nurse will explain your treatment and provide a written hospitalization treatment plan to confirm what has been discussed.

Name band or identity bracelet

We ask all inpatients to wear a name band or an identity bracelet during their hospitalization to ensure that your treatment during your hospital stay proceeds safely and according to plan.
On the day of admission, after your treatment schedule has been confirmed, we will ask you to wear the name band either around your wrist or ankle.
You may be asked to present the name band when entering an operating room or the examination room or prior to the administration of IVs, blood tests, or drugs.

Lights out

Overhead lighting in the wards is turned off at 9:00 P.M.

Meals

Meals are served under the guidance of the physician in charge.
The schedule of meal service is:

Breakfast 8:00 A.M.
Lunch 12:00 P.M.
Supper 6:00 P.M.

Hospital room

Please describe any room preferences at the Room Assignment Counter , on the first floor.
Note, however, that the specific type of room you prefer may not be available.
In addition, we may need to ask you to change your room in light of unavoidable circumstances.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in these matters.

Laundry service

We do not maintain an in-house laundry service or facility.
Outside laundry service may be requested from the ward nurse or the ward assistant.

Complaints and suggestions

We value your comments and opinions, which can help us improve our services. Please share your comments with the ward or place your written comments in the suggestion box located on the first floor and other locations.

Hospitalization Expenses

Calculation of hospitalization bills

Unlike hotel bills, charges for hospitalization are calculated according to the Public Health Law. Your room charge per night covers your stay between 12:00 midnight and 12:00 midnight the following day.

Payment

  • A bill for your hospital stay will be presented twice a month.
  • Bills will be delivered to your room on the 5th day of the month, representing the closing expenses at the end of the previous month, and the 17th day of the month, for expenses as of the 15th of the month.
  • If either the 5th or the 17th of the month falls on a public holiday, your bill may be delivered 1 to 2 days later.
  • Please arrange payment at the Inpatient Cashier , on the first floor, within three business days of receiving the bill.

Please refer to the procedures provided below for payments on the day you are discharged.

Insurance coverage — Cost sharing under the National Health Insurance (NHI) Plan or Employees Health Insurance (EHI) Plan

A co-payment not covered under your NHI or EHI plan may be included in your bill. This may include extra room charges (facility bill) or other fees related to treatment not covered under the insurance plans.

Presentation of the Japanese Public Health Insurance Card

Be sure to present your Japanese Public Health Insurance Card at the Admission Counter , on the first floor, at the time of admission.
Please inform us immediately of any change in insurance status during your hospital stay.

Health Insurance System for the Elderly (HISE)

If you are covered under HISE, please present your senior citizen medical care certificate or the standard medical care certificate to the Admission Counter , on the first floor, at the time of admission so that your medical bill can be calculated accordingly.

Discharge

Your discharge date will be determined through consultation with the physician in charge.
Please feel free to ask the ward nurse any questions related to your discharge date.

On the Day of Discharge

Steps to complete in the ward

  • The ward nurse will return your patient ID card.
  • You will also be given any medications that you may be required to take at home.
  • Any medications that you may have brought to the hospital at the time of admission will be returned to you.
  • If you stored any valuables or cash in the safety deposit box at the time of admission, you may pick them up by presenting the key to the ward nurse.
  • Please be sure that you have all your personal belongings before you leave the hospital.

Payment on the day you are discharged

Please present your ID card to the Inpatient Cashier on the first floor.

Paying your hospital bills

On the day of discharge, be sure to present any deposit receipts or safety deposit receipts in order to receive any refunds or personal belongings you may have stored at the time of admission.

Show the visitor’s pass at the General Information Desk on weekdays until 5:00 P.M. and at the Night Reception window at all other hours.
Please present your visitor's pass to the ward nurse or staff before you see the patient.
On Sat, Sun, and Holiday, visitors are required to check in at the Admissions Counter , on the first floor, between 8:30 A.M. – 5:00 P.M.

Restrictions on Visiting

  • Any visitor with a fever or symptoms of an acute illness such as upper respiratory, gastrointestinal, skin, or eye infection is not allowed to visit.
  • Children under 13 years of age that have not been vaccinated against measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella, AND have never had these infections are not allowed to visit.
    • Children under 13 years of age may see a patient in patient lounges. However, they must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
    • Children under 13 years of age are not allowed to visit patients in the pediatric ward.
  • Visitors may be requested to wait outside the ward room, or even refrain from visiting, depending on the patient's condition, treatment and nursing requirements.
  • No one who shows signs of being intoxicated is allowed to visit the patient ward.

Other Notices

  • Gifts that may affect medical treatment may not be permitted.
  • Please refrain from eating or drinking in the patient's room.
  • Smoking is not allowed anywhere in the hospital.
  • Use of mobile phones is only permitted in designated areas. Please observe the instructions provided in the area or ward.

Presence of Interns and Visiting Residents

As part of our educational program, we accept interns and resident doctors from various medical schools, nursing colleges, clinical engineering and theology departments. At various times during your hospital stay, we may request your cooperation in allowing these trainees to be present during consultation, surgery, treatments, therapies, and tests. Thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.

Medical Record Documentation

If you require copies of medical documents, such as the physician's statement or hospitalization records, please inquire at the Documentations Counter , on the first floor. Please note that different charges apply to each document and processing times can vary, some types taking weeks.
In general, you may fill out a request form for the physician's statement or other medical records at the time of discharge.
In case of a prolonged hospital stay, you may consult the documentation personnel for other options.
Please inquire at the Documentation Department for all other documentation requests.

Social Services

  • Since the establishment of in-house social work services in 1929, we have maintained in-house social workers to provide consultation to patients who need help and advice on various issues related to their illness or hospitalization.
  • Please contact our Social Service Department for any of following needs or concerns: Locating hospitals that specialize in geriatrics, rehabilitation, hospice care; renting or buying special equipment such as wheel chairs; finding home helpers such as housekeepers and personal care nurses.
  • Obtaining assistance with or learning about the various benefits of National Health Insurance, pension, and other public health insurance plans.
  • Dealing with problems such as alcohol or drug dependencies; incurable or intractable diseases; care for terminal cancer patients; adjustment problems at school, in the workplace, etc.

(On Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, TVs and refrigerators are available for rent.)

Pay parking lots are available on B1 and B2.
The parking fee is ¥400 for the first hour and ¥100 for every 15 minutes thereafter.

Mail box

A mail box is located by the West Exit.

Volunteer shop

A gift shop carrying products handmade by volunteers is in the 1st floor atrium by the East Exit.

Rooftop garden

A rooftop garden, located on 6F, is open to the public.
